The craft
A suit should fit the life you wear it to.
The Dapper Vicar began with a simple conviction: a well-made suit should serve the person wearing it and not be kept for the few who can afford Savile Row.
Every suit is cut from a pattern drafted for you alone. The greater part of the making happens in our own workshops overseas, where master tailors with decades at the bench cut, canvas and construct each garment, one at a time. It then comes home to Houston, Texas, to be finished by hand.
Nothing we make comes off a production line. Every garment is bespoke, made for one person, from first cut to final press.
Every suit is canvassed in natural horsehair. We never use fusing or glue, and no synthetic fibers go inside a Dapper Vicar suit. The floating horsehair canvas shapes itself to you over years of wear, where a fused interlining stiffens and bubbles.
Our standard is a half canvas, made for warm climates like ours in Texas. For cooler climates up north, a full canvas is a small upgrade. In our view it doesn’t change the quality of the drape, only the weight of the suit.
You choose the cut, the lapel, the buttons and the lining. We keep the details you'll never see but will always feel: pad-stitched lapels, reinforced shoulders, and finishing done the slow way.
A note on made-to-measure
We don’t currently offer a made-to-measure product, and we don’t recommend it as an equal alternative to what we do. Made-to-measure adjusts a standard pattern to fit; every Dapper Vicar suit is drafted from a pattern of its own.
